Tennessee Trip Day One

Lydia, my mom, and I are in Tennessee visiting my brother and sister-in-law. They haven't ever met Lydia so I decided this would be a good time for them to finally see her. Justin doesn't have enough vacation time so we had to leave him home, but we miss him and wish he was here.

We traveled pretty much all day long. Lydia was really pretty good on the flight. I was expecting a lot worse because she doesn't like being held. She was fussy for a little bit, but not that long. She even fell asleep on my lap from Salt Lake to Memphis. It was Lydia's first airplane right.
This is a view out the window of our plane before we took off.
We hadn't bought a seat for Lydia, but when we checked in at the gate, we were told to take her carseat on because they had moved the person that was sitting by us because the plane wasn't full. We were so excited at the thought of letting Lydia just sit in her carseat because she is really good in it and takes good naps. However, right before the plane took off, a lady came and said she was assigned to the seat where we had the carseat. The flight attendants started yelling at us and telling us we needed to get her out of the seat and get the carseat loaded under the plane. We tried to explain to them that we were told we could have the carseat and it wasn't our fault that we had it. It was a little obnoxious because we didn't have time to reorganize all of our stuff. Later the flight attendants came back and apologized because the flight to Atlanta was cancelled so they were putting as many people as they could onto other flights. So, all of the pictures with the carseats were taken before the plane left. We really just held her the whole time.
We asked Lydia if she was excited for her first airplane ride and this is the face that she gave us.
After we got off the plane in Memphis we had to catch our flight to Knoxville. We hurried and put Lydia in her stroller and then took off for the opposite side of the airport. We were the last three to load the plane. Luckily for us, the fourth to last person to load the plane was a very nice guy that helped us put the bag on Lydia's stroller and carry it down the jet way for us.
On the flight from Memphis to Knoxville we were just on a little plane. There were only two seats on each side of the aisle.
On the second flight we had a window seat and Lydia loved looking out the window. It was only a 53 minute flight and she looked out the window the majority of the time. At one point she actually fell asleep sitting up in my arms. I felt so bad for her. She was so tired but she was trying so hard to be happy.
When we got to Tennesse we put Lydia in her carseat and she seemed excited to just be put down and not be held anymore.
This is us at the Knoxville airport after we picked up our luggage.Matthew and Lisa came and picked us up and then we went out to dinner. Lydia was excited to see them and even put on her happy face and smiled for them. She was so tired but she was such a trooper and didn't cry or anything during dinner. During dinner Lisa was holding her and Lydia loved being able to play with Lisa's hair. Lydia is a hair puller and Lisa has long, thick, curly hair. I feel bad I didn't get any pictures of them. I'll be sure to get lots the rest of the trip.

Wow Lydia. I am two and I haven't been on an airplane. You are pretty spoiled.

Traveling with kids can be an adventure! Looks like she did well though.
