Lydia Turns Six Months Old!

I can't believe that Lydia is already six months old. She turned six months old on August 23rd. We can't believe she has been here for half of a year already. The time is going by so quickly! She is getting so big and learning new things every day. We love watching her grow and change. She is such a blessing in our lives.
Lydia has developed her own personality and it is fun to watch how she interacts with other people.Lydia has changed so much in the past little bit. It amazes me at how much she has grown up. Here are some things that she has been up to lately:

**She can sit up all by herself. She tips over sometimes, but for the most part she can stay sitting up for long periods of time.

**She loves to roll onto her back and onto her belly. She'll start at one end of the room and end up at the other.

**She rolls into the corner of her crib during nap time and gets stuck so we have to go roll her back onto her back so she can sleep.

**She has started sticking her tongue out all the time (as seen in one of the pictures).

**She loves to play with her toys. She likes the one in the picture above a lot and also she loves to be in her exersaucer.

**She loves to interact with random people at the store when they come and comment on her. She has started tilting her head to the side and smiling at them, which of course, makes them adore her even more.

**She still loves singing.

**She loves watching her dad where ever he goes.

**She is eating lots of solid foods. She loves being spoon fed and loves to make raspberries while she is eating. Yes, it makes quite the mess.

**She hates getting her face cleaned off after she makes the mess eating her fruits and veggies.

**She still loves taking baths, but hates getting dressed after her bath. She never fusses if I change her from her pajamas to her outfit for the day, but if she hasn't had clothes on and I try to get her dressed again she gets fussy.

**She still won't drink from a bottle, but is learning how to drink from a sippy cup.

**She is fascinated with water bottles and gets excited when she sees them.

**She is always busy talking and playing and is for the most part, always a happy baby!

**She loves music. When we are singing during church she grabs hold of the hymn book and starts to sing along.

**She has also started playing the piano.

Boating

This weekend we were able to go boating with my family. I had been up in Logan earlier in the week for Lydia's six month check up so we took the boat out on Wednesday night just to make sure that everything was working okay after the boat being in for repairs. We went to Hyrum Reservoir. It was the perfect night for boating. The temperatures were cool and the lake was smooth! It was a lot of fun.My goal is always to go without getting the top part of my hair wet. If I can do this it means that I was able to get up on the first try and that I didn't fall while I was going.On Saturday we went to Willard Bay. It wasn't quite a perfect boating day. In fact, it was far from it. It was pretty windy which made the water pretty rough. Justin and Dan were the only ones that got into the water. I figured that since I had just been out on Wednesday that I would sit this one out. The wind was blowing so bad that when the boat was moving water would come up and splash over the top of the boat. Lydia and I were sitting in the perfect spot so we didn't get wet, but the boys up front were pretty soaked.My mom held Nathan underneath the towel because they were getting pretty wet. Nathan was a little scared so they sang songs the whole time.Justin is pretty good on the wake board. Especially considering that he hasn't been boating at all this year and that the water was so rough. We didn't get any pictures of him getting any air because of how rough it was and we were holding the kids.Lydia did really well on the boat. She even fell asleep in my arms at one point which is really good because she never sleeps while someone is holding her.Jillian took this picture of the three of us. I like the look on Lydia's face.After we were done on the water, we went back to the beach to eat some lunch.It was still really windy so we kept Lydia in her car seat to help protect her a little more from the wind blowing on her. She likes her car seat though so she was pretty happy to just be able to do her own thing and not have to be held anymore.
Nathan loves Lydia and he kept trying to give her sticks (because he was playing with them and Lydia needed some too) and he kept making sure that she was okay. Even though it was a pretty windy day we still had a fun time!

6 Month Check-Up

Lydia had her six month old doctor check up yesterday. She weighs 16 pounds and 7.5 ounces and she is 26 and 1/2 inches long. She is in the 75th percentile for her weight and the 90th percentile for her height. The doctor said that she can start eating solid foods now and recommended that we give her some biscuits. She seemed to really enjoy them.

Lydia doesn't take a bottle so we asked for some suggestions on how to get her to take a bottle and the doctor suggested we use Diet Coke. My parents were pretty excited because I had been fighting them off about giving her some. The doctor said Mountain Dew would be okay though. Lydia got two shots yesterday but she did great with them. She loved sitting on the exam table and kicking her legs and moving her arms because it made the paper covering rattle and make noise. She is such a happy baby!

Brittany's Birthday!!!

This past Sunday was Brittany's Birthday! As most of you know she is almost a year older than me, so this makes her 21 years old!! As Brittany posted earlier we went to the play The Lion King on Friday, went swimming and hung out on Saturday and celebrated her Birthday on Sunday. It was a fun weekend!

Brittany has been a stay at home mom now for the past four months or so now. She is the best stay at home mom ever! She plays with Lydia and teaches her things only a mom can, and sings her songs. She always has dinner ready when I get home from work (it is always nice to have home cooked meals), she does all the laundry and has it folded, she gets the whole house cleaned. She is just awesome at doing everything, it makes me feel kind of lazy because I don't need to help around the house, just come home and play! Maybe when we get a house I can do the "manly things" around the house, I do a little now but there is only so much you can do with a rented townhome. Brittany is just an amazing person and Lydia and I love her so much and are so grateful for all that she does for us!

Lion King and Swimming

On Friday my entire family, extended and all, went to see The Lion King at Capitol Theater. It was awesome. The costumes were amazing and we all really enjoyed ourselves.My sister Jillian and her husband Brady decided to stay the weekend with us. During the day on Friday we went to Provo with Cammie and Nathan and Jillian and Brady went to the temple. We also drove by my great grandma's old house. We all remember when we used to go there and play in her backyard down the bunny trail. We had a lot of fun times there.

On Saturday we went swimming with Jillian and Brady.Lydia loves the water. She was more fun this time than last time because she had a good nap before she went swimming.We had Lydia in some old swimming suits that Nathan wore. She looked like a boy so everybody kept telling me how cute of a boy he was. It was kinda funny.

Don't worry, we didn't keep her out in the sun long. We have this cool little bouncer that has a shade cover on it. She took nap in it and we all took turns sitting by her while the others were swimming.

She kept splashing and the water would get on her face and she would gasp for air and then look around and start splashing again. It was pretty cute. Justin and Brady went down the water slide that they had there.Swimming makes Justin turn into a little kid. We went to this pool because he wanted to go somewhere that had a diving board. He started by doing dives and cannon balls.Later he switched and started doing flips off the diving board.
By the end he was getting pretty good. He said that he hasn't gone off the diving board in like five years. He loved it! I enjoyed watching him too!
