Two Year Check-Up

Lydia had her two year wellness check up the day after her birthday. I was a nice mom and didn't make her go in on her birthday for the check-up. She got to wear a cute little gown this time. She thought it was pretty funny and kept looking in the mirror at herself.Her two year stats are:
Weight: 28.66 pounds which puts her in the 75 percentile
Height: 34.06 inches which puts her in the 67 percentileI couldn't resist the cute little diaper bum shot.Lydia also had to get shots in her legs. She got three total. She did not like them and did not know what to expect. She had been very pleasant during the exam, but once the nurse poked her with the needle she fell apart. We tried to put a band-aid on them to stop the bleeding, but since she's never had a band-aid before she associated that with the pain she was feeling and ripped them right off. Needless to say, she was very dramatic. Her legs hurt so she couldn't walk and had to crawl. I guess that makes sense, right? So she crawled out of the doctors office and down the hall to the elevator. I tried to get her to stand up and she would grab her legs and say ow. I finally picked up her and carried her the rest of the way, and I also was carrying Brooke in her carseat and the diaper bag. Once we got to the parking lot her sticker blew out of her hands and Lydia began screaming that she wanted Mickey back so I started running through the parking lot, carrying Lydia, Brooke and the diaper bag. Who says I've never run a marathon?

Lydia Turns 2 Years Old - Part 2

After Lydia went to lunch on her birthday she came home and took an extra long nap. The excitement of the morning must have worn her out. After her nap we were able to take her bike outside and ride it around for awhile. After Justin got off work, my parents came back over. My mom had been in Georgia for the past two weeks so my dad picked her up from the airport. Once everyone was here we let Lydia open her presents.She was spoiled rotten. Grandma Carol and Grandpa Ron gave her some play food for her kitchen along with play dishes. She loves playing with them.My parents gave her a big girl bed, a new dresser, night stand, a toy chest, a baseball bat, side walk chalk, a shirt with a horse on it, a summer dress, a Minnie Mouse dress up set, and a horse with a rider. The rider is a girl, but Lydia calls it "dad dad." I guess she thinks that it looks like Justin.In Justin's defense, the rider does have red hair and it is wearing a hat and Lydia associates hats with Justin.
Justin and I gave her the tricycle, and Brooke gave her a Little People train set.
Lydia asked for more presents after she had opened them all. I think she was having way too much fun taking the wrapping paper off.Brooke enjoyed playing with the wrapping paper. She, of course, tried to eat it! Everything goes straight to her mouth.
After presents we went to Costa Vida for dinner. Lydia made sure to sit by all of us!We finished the night off with cake and ice cream back at our house. Lydia wanted a Buzz Lightyear cake. She also had Buzz cups and plates.
The first thing she did when she saw the cake was pull the Buzz Lightyear off of it.She did a great job of blowing the candles out and she even tried to shove more candles into the the cake. Lydia also loved eating her cake and ice cream.Justin did a great job of scooping the ice cream and cake.My dad thought Brooke needed a treat too and fed her some rice cereal. I guess he didn't want her to feel left out.Lydia thought it was funny that Buzz was riding the horse with "dad dad."We had so much fun celebrating Lydia's birthday.
I can't believe how fast these two years ago. Our lives have changed so much in the last two years. We have moved twice, added Brooke to the family, and done so many other fun things. I can't imagine life without Lydia. She is such a smart, happy little girl who teaches me every day to just enjoy life and to cherish the little moments! Happy birthday Lydia Rose. We love you so much!

Lydia Turns 2 Years Old - Part 1

I can't believe that Lydia is already two! She is getting so big and so smart. Justin and I sometimes have to remind ourselves that she is just a little girl still. She tries to reason with us and can usually get her way by pleading a simple "please, please, please." Justin and I got her a tricycle for her birthday and we had it set up for her when she woke up. She was so excited when she got on it and we pushed her around the house. She kept saying "more please, push."We finally got her off of it and she got to eat pancakes for breakfast. After breakfast she rode her bike for a little (a lot) longer.After Lydia was done she wanted to give Buzz a ride.Lydia was then in charge of making her birthday cake. This is her pouting before we started because I wasn't going fast enough. She has been doing this pout for a while now. It is so funny.Lydia loves helping make things because she knows that she gets to eat it. She calls it yum yums.
Lydia was then in charge of doing all the dishes. She loves playing in the water.Lydia was then in charge of sweeping the floor.
After Lydia swept we blew up the birthday balloons.I love this picture of Lydia. She looks so cute. It's not very often she actually looks at the camera and does any sort of a smile.My dad was working in Salt Lake today so he came by and we went to the Equestrian Center to watch the horses for a while before we were meeting up with Justin for lunch. Lydia was so excited and climbed up onto the rails to watch the horses as they went by.We had only been there for a few minutes when a lady came and asked if we were there watching anyone. We told her we just wanted to let Lydia watch the horses and she offered to let Lydia ride her horse. Lydia was so excited. Lydia holds on and stays on the saddle all by herself. I tried to keep hold of her leg and she would get annoyed with me and move my hand away. It was so nice of the lady to let Lydia ride.
Lydia also had a lot of fun running up and down the bleachers.After the Equestrian Center we went to Del Taco (or taco taco taco as my dad calls it) for lunch.Lydia's favorite thing to do when we eat out is to blow the papers off of the straws at someone. She does it and giggles. It is cute.Lydia definitely enjoyed eating her burrito.We couldn't leave little Brooke Brooke out, so her is one of her playing with the straw that my dad always twists up for her.

Dad's Hat and Coloring

Lydia absolutely loves to color. She sits on the bed and colors in the morning while I get ready. One morning it was particularly funny to me because she had found Justin's hat and insisted on wearing it. Lydia hates hats or anything on her head, so I thought it was strange that she wanted to wear it. She thought she was being funny by wearing it though. I wish she would wear hats more often because she looks so cute in them.
