Lydia Turns Five Months Old!

Our little girl is getting so big and so old. Time has gone by so quickly. On Friday, July 23rd, Lydia turned five months old!I know that I am a little camera happy. I love taking pictures of Lydia. She is just so cute!She didn't like posing too much on the tractor. The sun was in her eyes because we had to turn it around so we wouldn't be taking the pictures into the sun.My parents bought Lydia this little hat so we thought it would be a fun picture.She is looking at the ceiling fans in this last picture.Isn't she the cutest little cowgirl ever? We have so much fun with her. She is developing so much.

Here is a list of things that she is up to now:

**She shakes her head side to side as if she is saying no. It is really really cute. I tried to record it but every time I get the video recorder out she starts watching it instead of shaking her head.

**She will put her arms up to reach for you (if you wiggle your fingers. I think she is trying to play with my fingers instead, but it still makes me feel good thinking she is wanting me).

**She tries to crawl when we lay her on her stomach. She wants to go somewhere but doesn't quite have the concept down. She gets high centered.

**She tries very hard to sit up by herself but still tips over every now and then.

**She loves her daddy so much. She turns and watches him whenever he says anything.

**She likes watching tv. Every now and then I turn something on for her so she will just calm down and relax.

**She has this little toy that she tries to chew on but she puts it in her mouth and moves her head side to side and it makes a squeaky noise.

**She still sings.

**She has started making this new high pitched squeal/talking thing. I don't know exactly how to describe it but it is pretty funny for the first thirty minutes or so and then it gets a little loud.
She takes after her daddy.

**She rolls onto her side all of the time to reach toys. She can roll over all the way but doesn't do it very often.

**She likes to curl her legs up and roll to her side when she is tired. She grasps onto her little blanket, rolls to the side, and then falls asleep.

**She kicks the ground over and over again when she is laying on the floor or in her crib. That is usually how we know she is awake because we hear this pounding noise.

**She is eating rice cereal and carrots how. She has to hold onto her own spoon so that she doesn't try to grab the one that I am trying to feed her with.
We love having her in our life so much. She is so cute! We are excited for the next month to start.

Pioneer Day Weekend- Days Four and Five

Saturday was Pioneer Day. Mendon does a celebration every year for the 24th. It is called Mendon Days. Pretty creative, huh? This is Lydia playing before the celebrations start!
We started the day by going to the breakfast that the firemen put together. It was pretty good breakfast. My parents just like to walk around with Lydia and show her off to all of their friends. After that we went and watched the animal events. They had a pig, chicken, and rabbit chase along with mutton bustin'. It was fun watching all of the kids. Nathan tried to catch a rabbit (mostly he just ran around all crazy like chasing the kids).Justin tried to catch a pig. I missed it because I had left to feed Lydia and didn't know that they were going to let the "older" kids take part in the chases.He didn't catch one. I guess he just had fun chasing the other "kids" too. After the animal events they had a little parade. Small town parades are the best because they throw candy! Lydia had fun waiting for the parade to start.Then she got tired and fell asleep.She always falls asleep with one of three little blankets that we have for her. Spoiled little girl!She woke up after the parade in time to get some of the beads that people threw out.Nathan enjoyed the parade too. He think it is funny that they throw candy. There were also a few floats that had water they either squirt or threw out. My mom didn't enjoy that very much! I thought the scouts had a creative float. They had a raft in a trailer and they had buckets full of water that they were throwing out onto people.After the parade they had the fire trucks come and the firemen turned on the hoses and squirt everyone. Justin and I went and ran through the water and the foam they were squirting. It was a lot of fun.They also did a firework show. Last year when I was pregnant my dad bought us a flashing binki for our baby. This is the first of three firework shows that I remembered to take it to.We had a lot of fun watching the fireworks. Lydia does so good even if it is past her bedtime!

On Sunday we went to church, ate dinner, and then headed home. We had a lot of fun over the weekend.We tried to get pictures of the grand kids with my mom, but they were too busy looking at each other to pose.

Pioneer Day Weekend- Days Two and Three

Thursday, July 22, we went to visit Jillian at work. She works on campus at Utah State. She wanted to show off Lydia's head of hair to her coworkers. I love USU's campus and started to feel sad that I don't still go to school there. I loved my time at USU and have so many wonderful experiences from my time there.I took Lydia to the Aggie A to get her pictures on it.
Cammie and Nathan became "true Aggies". Or so she says. It wasn't true Aggie night but we'll let her pretend. Maybe if they end up going there we will have to update their photo!We had a fun day on campus!

I also was able to ride my horse, Samie on Thursday. Usually when I ride everybody else wants to ride too so I don't get to spend the time that I want to. This time it was just me riding and it was so much fun. Nathan came out at the end and rode with me while I cooled Samie off. Lydia also helped me ride!

On Friday, Justin, Lydia and I went and met up with our old bishop and his wife for breakfast. We love the Cooks so much. Justin and I learned so much serving with them and being able to follow their example. We are truly blessed to have them in our lives. I am regretting that I didn't get any pictures with them. We had a lot of fun catching up and Lydia was so good.We were going to go out boating on Friday also. My dad got the boat all ready (it was the first time out for the summer) and we took it to the lake. We launched the boat and drove over to the dock to wait for Justin to get back, but while we were waiting we noticed that the boat was taking in a lot of water. We quickly sent Justin back to get the trailer and pulled the boat back out of the water. A hose had frozen during the winter and broke.We had a little life jacket for Lydia. She didn't really like it. I can't blame her though because I am sure that it made a warm day even warmer. She looks pretty cute in it though!Justin and my dad went to his boat mechanic to see if there would be a quick fix for the boat, but there wasn't. We waited at the lake for them to get back. Lydia just enjoys laying and playing. She was a lot happier with the life jacket off. We were glad that we were just at Hyrum Reservoir and not at a week long trip or something. We'll have to try the boating trip again. I am anxious to wake board because I didn't get to last year because I was pregnant with Lydia.
