Hogle Zoo

We decided to take a break from the continuous yard work that we have been doing all spring and head off to the zoo.  It was perfect weather to be at the zoo.

 The zoo was doing a Lego display so there were different statues made from Legos of the animals all through out the zoo.  The snakes and birds on the tree were all made from Legos.

 

 The girls were in a really good mood and were posing very well for pictures, so I took a lot.

 

 The polar bear in the background is made from Legos.  It was impressive.

 

 

 The polar bear was waiting to get fed so it kept swimming around right in front of the girls.  Brooke kept yelling, "Bear, bear, bear."  She was so excited.

 

 

 The only thing Lydia wanted to see at the zoo was the giraffe.  The baby giraffe is still there and is still pretty little.  It was born last year.

 Of course, the girls love riding the carousel too.  This is them waiting patiently for their turn.

It was a really fun day.

Walking in the Rain

My family had a big yard sale of my grandma's house and Justin stayed home with Brooke and Lydia.  The weather wasn't the best for the yard sale but it was perfect for taking a walk in the rain!  The next time it rained Lydia asked it we could go for a walk.  I told her no because it was raining.  Her response to me was, "Dad takes me on walks in the rain."  I guess mom will never live up to dad...Justin really is a fun dad though!

 Later in the afternoon it started to rain again so we put rain coats on and got the umbrellas out to go feed Ivy.  The girls loved playing with the umbrellas.

Justin's Backpacking Trip

Justin was able to go on a backpacking trip to Needles in Canyonland near Moab with some of his coworkers.  He had a lot of fun.  They left on Thursday and got home Sunday evening.  They ended up hiking 32 miles during their trip.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Day in Logan

While we were in Cache Valley for baby animals we were able to spend a day just hanging out in Logan and doing different things.  It was somewhat of a rainy day, but we still had fun.  We started by heading to First Dam and feeding the ducks and the geese.

 

 We then headed to Aggie Ice Cream for a blue mint aggie ice cream cone!

 We were also able to go fishing.  Lydia loved it!

 Brooke had a lot of fun too!

 My dad was very patient in helping all the grandkids.

 

 The kids were all able to make smoothies while we were at my parents too.

 Of course, they also had to pop some popcorn after they got in their pajamas and ready for bed.

 It was a great weekend and it is always nice to get away.

Baby Animal Days

Every year at the American Heritage Center in Wellsville they have an event called Baby Animal Days.  It has been a fun thing for us to take the girls to.  They like seeing the baby animals and Lydia loves being able to go mutton bustin!

 

 Lydia loved seeing all of the animals.  Brooke was having a little bit harder day and she wasn't very interested in seeing all of the animals.  At one point, Brooke just went and climbed back into the stroller.   She was getting some more teeth in and teething is a very hard process on her.

 After we saw all of the baby animals we went and rode the train.  We were able to go on the train a couple of times in a row because the lines weren't long when we were there.  By the afternoon they were really long so we were glad we went when we did.

 

 

 

 The girls also got to go on pony rides.  Having a pony at home hasn't wore off their excitement of pony rides yet.

 Lydia anxiously waited to get to ride the sheep.  She wanted to ride a big sheep not a little one. It was funny listening to her talk about it.

 Here she is showing us how strong she is.  Justin and her actually trained for mutton bustin.  He would pretend to be a sheep and she would ride on his back.

 Lydia getting ready to start.  She is one tough little girl.  She was the smallest one there again.  The kid that went before her was about ten years old.

 

 Go Lydia Go!

 When she fell off the sheep actually stepped on her hand and then jumped over her.  She started to cry.  I thought she was crying because her hand hurt but she told me that she was crying because, "me no win, me fall off."  She was sad she fell off.  Poor little thing.  She did so good and she was so proud of herself afterward.

We had a lot of fun even with all of the rain and the mud!
