My brother and sister-in-law came to Utah to visit. They had been visiting Disneyland for a 10K and half marathon and stopped by Utah on their way home. We were able to go to Mendon and spend a couple of days with them. One of the days we went to Promontory Point to see the Golden Spike where the transcontinental railroad was joined by the Central Pacific Railroad and the Union Pacific Railroad. They do a demonstration of the trains coming and meeting at the point. Brooke and Lydia were pretty excited to get to see the trains.
We had a little bit of waiting to do before the trains came.
The trains were pretty loud when the started coming and they kept blowing their horns too.
Brooke was really excited and kept waiving to the trains as they were coming.
These trains are depictions of the trains that met on the original date, May 10, 1869. The Jupiter, or more colorful train, is the Central Pacific train and the less colorful one is the Union Pacific train.
Matthew and Lisa by the Jupiter.
Our family by the Jupiter.
